Violet Park

Violet Park is currently located within the proposed Louisiana International Terminal footprint on Port NOLA-owned property in Violet, Louisiana. Port NOLA has committed to working with St. Bernard Parish on the relocation of the park within Violet, providing a valuable community space in Violet for future generations to enjoy. 

Violet's Park

Violet Park is an integral part of the community. To inform future park planning, Port NOLA issued a survey to Violet residents asking what park amenities matter most to the community. This page provides an overview of the study, the results, and next steps. Port NOLA thanks all survey respondents for their participation. We also encourage residents to stay engaged throughout St. Bernard Recreation Department's process.

Did You Know? 

The St. Bernard Parish Recreation Department manages Violet Park and determines public access schedules.

The Parish is also responsible for planning, designing, constructing and maintaining a new park.

 

Survey Overview

Purpose: To gather input from residents in the 70092 zip code about the park amenities that matter most to them and share this information with the St. Bernard Parish Recreation Department to help guide future park plans.

Who We Surveyed: The communities surrounding the current Violet Park, which are located in the 70092 ZIP code.

Survey Timeline: September 25, 2024, to November 26, 2024

How Community Members Participated:

Port NOLA provided a variety of ways for Violet residents to submit their feedback.

  1. Mail-In – Residents within the 70092 zip code received two copies of the survey in the mail, and it was also available for download on the website. Once completed, residents could mail it back in.
  2. Online – The survey was available online. A QR code was also available on the mailers.
  3. In-Person (at the Community Connection Office and/or pop-up events) - Residents could schedule time to drop off their survey at our Community Connection Office or could attend one of our collection events within Violet.

291 total survey responses; 91 percent of survey responses from Violet zip code 70092

The survey asked community members to rank the park amenities they consider most important. It also included an open-ended section where participants could share additional thoughts not addressed in the survey.

Based on the survey responses, the following park amenities appeared to be the top priorities among Violet-area residents:

Splash pad, Walking/Running Path, Playground, Baseball Field, Pavilion

What's Next?

For Port NOLA

Now that the Violet community has provided their input, Port NOLA will:

  • Share this report, which includes the raw data, with the St. Bernard Parish Recreation Department.

  • Make this report publicly available on our website, social media channels and at our Community Connection Office.

  • Continue our commitment to work with St. Bernard Parish to relocate the park within Violet. The Parish is responsible for planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining a new Violet Park.
