Pile Load Testing to Begin Soon

Pile Load Testing

As we plan and design the Louisiana International Terminal, we need to make sure the terminal will have a strong foundation before construction. First, we tested the soil on the property. Now, we are confirming the results of our soil studies with different field tests. The next step is to perform a series of pile load tests.

What are pile load tests?

The terminal will have a wharf for container ships to dock. There will also be ramps connecting the wharf to the land. These structures will be supported by concrete piles, which are large poles driven into the ground.

Port NOLA is conducting pile load tests to determine how deep these piles must be to safely support the wharf and ramps.
